Why These Settings Work
Medium grain at 5px and 55% intensity is intentionally obvious. It suits the broad reflections, signage, and dark architecture in the source because those shapes remain readable beneath a stronger pattern. Monochrome mode prevents colored speckles from distracting from the black-and-white structure.
The shadows receive 90% of the grain and the highlights 65%, preserving bright signs while letting the darker pavement carry more texture. A 30% vignette and 15% fade contain the frame and soften the deepest blacks without flattening the whole scene.

When to Avoid It
The image is very small, strongly compressed, or depends on smooth skin and clean gradients. At those limits, a 5px pattern can dominate rather than support the photograph.
Resolution and Export
The shown result is 1536×1024 and uses a 5px grain size. Use about 3px on smaller web images; for much larger exports, increase the size gradually while checking edges and highlights at 100%.
WebP or JPEG around 80–88 quality usually preserves this bold monochrome pattern without an excessive file size. Check bright lettering and deep shadow blocks for ringing before final export.
